Illness…..it’s the biggest, BADDEST Blues.
Due to health care disparities like inability to work from home, lack of health insurance, etc, Covid-19 is affecting our music community at higher rates than the general population. Covid-19 vaccines are in short supply and hard to come by.
The sooner we can get vaccinated, the sooner the music scene comes back 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Here are some resources to find a vaccine:
General tips:
Don’t even bother to look if you don’t qualify. You need to be in the group that is currently eligible to receive the vaccine. In Illinois: Starting Jan 25 is health care workers, nursing home & assisted living residents, first responders, over 65, essential workers, K-12. In most areas of Illinois starting Feb 25 (not Chicago or Cook Co) will be adults under 65 with disabilities & certain health conditions. Starting March 22 more essential workers, higher ed, government employees, & media. March 22 Chicago & Cook Co also begins to vaccinate adults with medical conditions, and these sites opening now to all IL residents. Starting March 29 food & beverage industry, construction, religious leaders. Starting April 12, all health departments in IL will be allowed to open vaccine eligibility to all adults if they have enough
First check with your primary care provider and any hospital at which you have received care, get on their waiting lists
Get on as many waiting lists as you can!
Spend a little time each day trying to get an appointment, but try not to stress yourself out
Try at different times of the day
In general, city / county health departments limit vaccinations to those who live or work in their county. Retail vaccinators, like pharmacies, will vaccinate regardless of where you live
People in Long Term Care (Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities) are mostly being vaccinated by Walgreens & CVS. Vaccine Hunters: Word has it that at the end of the day, if CVS & Walgreens vaccinators return to the store with any left-over vaccine, they shoot up whoever happens to be in the store
